Automated Smartphone-Based Cough Audio Classification for Rapid TB Triage (4-CAGE-TB)
Stellenbosch University is leading the 4-CAGE-TB project to build and validate a smartphone app that uses cough audio recordings to rapidly screen people for Tuberculosis (TB) at primary care clinics. The app categorises patients as 'likely TB' or 'unlikely TB' for targeted confirmatory testing. Following delays caused by COVID-19, this 2-year extended effort will complete patient recruitment, test accuracy across sites in South Africa and Uganda, support student research, and evaluate implementation feasibility.
